Our Story

Rooted in Cusco, Woven by Hand

Qosqo Away takes its name from the specific weaving technique practiced in Amandina's home village — a method passed down from mother to daughter for generations. Our goal is to share and keep Quechua culture alive by opening our doors and showing you, firsthand, a real piece of who we are.

Arte · Vida · Pasión

Art, Life, and Passion — In That Order

Qosqo Away is an invitation to step past the storefront and into the traditions themselves. The cooking and weaving techniques you'll see, like the Quechua language itself, have been passed down from mother to daughter for generations. Every village has its own symbols woven into its textiles — patterns found nowhere else — which is exactly why keeping each community's distinct style alive matters so much. We open our doors so you can wear the clothing, sit at the loom, taste the food, and stand beside the animals that make Quechua textile art possible.

Amandina Hjancco with a decorated llama in Cusco, Peru

Amandina has spent her life among Cusco's artisan community — working with weavers and carvers to keep Quechua traditions alive and visible. As the gerente of Qosqo Away, she personally welcomes every guest and works closely with the local artisans who lead each weaving demonstration.

Her goal is simple: give visitors an honest, hands-on encounter with Quechua culture — not a performance, but a shared afternoon.

What Guides Us

Our Approach

Every experience we host puts income directly into the hands of artisans, weavers, and cooks working in their own home villages near Cusco. That matters because it means people don't have to leave for Cusco or another big city to make a living — they can stay close to their families, their land, and the traditions that define them. By choosing Qosqo Away, you're not just watching a demonstration of Quechua culture; you're helping keep it alive exactly where it belongs.
